Silence Made Me “Voice of the Week”

Voiceoftheweek WOW. So this happened! I got a lovely note from Jory at BlogHer, telling me that my "Mockingbird Don't Sing" post had been noticed by the BlogHer crew, and that I was being named "Voice of the Week!" I won something! (To all the MamaPoppers I went to Vegas with, this is funny, because I didn't win a damn cent in Vegas, nor do I ever win ANYTHING, so this is super duper exciting!)

The irony of it all is that the original post was about losing my voice, but at the same time, it also made me find my voice, the one I use through writing. Looking back on it, I feel that it was meant to be this way, that I'm way too shy to speak my mind, and my stage fright was so all-consuming as a singer that I blew more auditions than I care to admit. But writing, this beautiful medium in which I can sit in silence with the tip-tap of the keyboard and really, truly SPEAK, that is what I was meant to do.

So thank you so much, BlogHer, for giving me this great honor. I am humbled, and red-faced at the recognition, and you have my deepest gratitude.

  1. Congratulations Miss Banshee! Get used to the accolades. You’re very talented and I’d be willing to be this is only the beginning!

  2. Congratulations! You deserve it. I must also agree with how nice it is to write and be able to say exactly what you mean to without being on the spot.

  3. A standing ovation from me! Couldn’t have gone to a better blogger, cause there are no bloggers that hold a torch to you. 🙂
